There's a couple of posts on this theme, the other one is in the other alotment section, posted on there the other day pointing out that according to the Manor Park allotments site on www.lifeisland.org, less than 4000 people had signed the petition to save them. When you consider that over a million signed that petition against road pricing you'll see what a lost cause it is. It is a terribly sad state of affairs but shows that most people care far more about their back pocket than the things which, in reality, really matter.

Hopefully since I last looked the numbers have gone up dramatically but I somehow doubt it.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

And your hands begin to harden.

cannot get in, has govt. spy put block on after motoring disaster? i will support it if i can. all olympics have been financial disasters and i do not believe the govt. are telling the truth about the cost. anyway, i just do not believe the politicians. jimbo. i'm very happy they are not going to be up here in durham.

I believe the Olympics are more important than a specific allotment site. However I do believe the relevant councils should then make provision for more allotments afterwards.

I have signed I can not see any benefit from the games and would rather see land undeveloped

I think the Olympics are important too and it's not a cast of one or the other, the path could easily be re-routed along the side of the allotments and therefore everybody could be happy rather than causing long term lottie keepers some major disruption and loss of community which they currently have.

I've signed - I'm already sick of the extra on my council tax courtesy of (hiss spit) Ken, aparently all us poor Londoners are going to be paying for the extravagance for the next ten years - don't remember being asked if I wanted to.....

And what is the pint of a 75thou seater stadium if they are going to 'convert' it back to a measly 40 thou or less straight after? have they no sense? (Yeah - OK, they're polititions, enough said)
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

We Sheffielders are still paying the price for hosting the World Student Games over 10 years ago....foisted upon us by David Blunkett! We neither needed it nor wanted it...but will still be paying for it for years to come....OK we have some good facilities...but the average Sheffielder doesn't get the benefit....visiting Sports teams do!!

There's a piece in today's Daily Mail about the Allotments.
