any allotments in Gillingham, Kent?

Greetings fellow green fingered individuals!
I've been on the Medway Council's waiting list for about 2 yrs now but am finding it very difficult to get any info on available plots or even how long the waiting list is.
Is there anyone from the Gillingham area who is in the same situation as myself?
Does anyone know of any available plots or where i could begin to look?

alternatively i am happy to plot share with anyone or if there are 12 or more people in the Gillingham area maybe we could put our case to the Council for more allotment space?

I'd tour around the sites to see if any are very overgrown. If you find one you could ask if you could have it and clear it.

It's usually now (rent due about now) that the council finds out that people are giving up, so you may be lucky, but keep phoning them to ask where you are on the list, so you know roughly how the lists are moving, and to show them you're keen.

I had waited 2 years and was told I was 11th on the list *sigh* - but the people above me had moved away or changed their minds about wanting one, so I got one that year

I'm not far from Gillingham, waited over 3 years for plot, there are some that are not looked after, and v overgrown. Suggest you keep on contacting Medway council, speak to the 'allotment officer'.
