about 18 months near me but further afield in Manchester can be up to 5 or 6 years.My site is little known so not too bad waiting wise.

Hi,
5 years on the waiting list and still waiting. Have moved from 3rd to 4th in that time with 2 plots becoming vacant! Neighbouring council opened 22 new plots though when their waiting list went from 0 wait to 18 months.Comment

Can you not get a plot/half one there, EmB? Just as an intrim measure? Mind you, that said you do that and you'll be dead certain as SOON as you've planted all your crops, the plot right near you will come up

Waiting lists vary wildy round here. You have to put your name down directly at each plot as although there is an allotment officer at the council, there is no centralised waiting list.
Our new plot we had to wait about 2 and a half years. We put our names down on another site and got a plot within months. They are having a clear out of all the folks who don't use their plots so at the moment it is a very short wait.Comment
