Allotment Available in NW london

Calling all enthusiastic gardeners. We are a small friendly allotment group and have a couple of plots which have just become available on our NW london allotment site located in Barnet.

Was it not in Barnet that huge rent increases were mooted just shortly ago? What sort of rents are envisaged for the plots available?

The proposed rent increases for Barnet allotments won't come into effect until 2013 and because Barnet is handing over management of the allotments to the respective Societies we will be able to set our own rents from this year...

and why no proper waiting list, because rents are too high?

Our waiting list thankfully was not a long one and most people on it are now happy digging people who were lucky enough to find a plot ... and I still have a couple of plots available. We have not set the price of our plots yet but expect them to stay the same as Barnets prices before the increases...prices will be discussed and set by our society of allotment members as we take over management

Thelma I don't think current rates are very high. Barnet currently charges £5.90 per pole per year.
Water charges where applicable will be £1.50 per pole per year for the same period.
