        Is your friend using a tanking product Mrbloom?, used for keeping water out of homes where earth is banked up against it?

          i don't know exactly what it is pal he is a damp proofer and plasterer by trade so i will find out what it is but its supposed to be excellent for keeping damp out

            should see the bloody shed we building on the allotment lol its better than my house its like a bloody palace he he he . plus we get materials at trade cost with him been in the business so its all good

              That's Creocote The original stuff isn't available to the 'general public' anymore. The Creocote stuff still looks and smells the same mind.

                my mistake forgive me im pretty thick lol, using my brain was never my strong point, either way it still does the trick and i never had any probs with it.

                  I would be careful with any preservative - it may not be safe to use in case it leeches from the boards and contaminates the soil.

                  I'm sure I read that creosote is a big no-no for treating boards for raised beds?

                    the shed is slightly raised anyway so i think it will be ok i doubt anything will soak into the soil
