£250 a year for 90 square metres that's extortionate
To get your money back at that price you would have to grow cannabis

I pay under £5 a month for my 300+ sq yard plot (Charnwood Borough Council)

P.S. I thought the whole idea about grow your own was to save money as home grown vegetables were cheaper(& healthier) than the supermarket stuff.

I still don't know how you would get £250 of produce off a 90 sq yard plot if you have had to buy seeds & other stuff too.

As i said yes it is expensive but there are no local authority plots available , i have been on the list over 3 years and have only moved up one place. .
The sheds and greenhouses used to be extra and are now included in the rent .
It is not all about growing cheap veg , i get alot of enjoyment out of mine , some lovely fresh veg.,socalise with like minded people and get out of wor lasses hair lol
There is about a 70% take up rate at the moment and 90 sqm seems adequate for most . how many underused weed infested allotments to we see else ware
£5 a week is not bad for a hobby considering its not even the cost of 2 pints of beer

£5 a week is a lot less than it would cost in gym membership and you get fresh veg as well as fitness from it. Hope you have a good growing year davey

This will be my 3rd season . even with all the bad weather we had last year i had some great potatoes, carrots ,runner and french beans , cabbage ,sprouts , turnip , swede tomatos and cucumbers etc and have high hopes for this year

I still think it is expensive for a(small) allotment & people are being taken advantage of.
And if you want fresh air and exercise then go for a (long) walk.
I do even in the "growing season"

Who is Germinator and do you realise this thread is two years old? The plots, if they are still there are probably more than a fiver a pop now!
