The article is nearly 3 years old. Didn't MPs vote against this in 2011?http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia

Sorry didn't notice the article date,
I will enquire as to why such an old press cutting was forwarded to me.
So they voted against it.
What makes you think they forgotten about the idea?
And that it's gone away forever."...Very dark, is the other side, very dark."

There should be tax incentives for developers to include a decent sized garden for at least 50% of its developments irrespective of any legislation on allotments. Its a bit of a myth that there is a land shortage in this country, most farmers would jump at the chance of building houses on a part of their land. Some farmers even recieve payments for not growing grain on their land (The set aside scheme) to avoid another grain mountain. If those gardens were used properly they would no doubt produce more than when they were agricultural land.
In fact we need a lot more allotments they have incredible benefits not just in enabling people to connect with the soil but in a social context too, children who spend their time with the family on an allotment are not hanging round on the streets doing mischief.photo album of my garden in my profile http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...my+garden.html

I think it's inevitable that more will be threatened, particularly the ones in prime spots. Our lease from the Council states we only have to be given a year's notice to get off the land.http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia

I thought that developers had to create a certain amount of allotments per 100 houses they built?
If not, they will just cram as many houses onto a given area as they can. No wonder modern houses have no gardens. My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
