Allotment, half plot, shared plot or any outside space at all wanted in Gateshead.

Hi all,

Due to different circumstances, I now live in a flat - coming from always having a big garden and loving growing veg this is a huge pain.

So last year I applied to Gateshead council for a plot - they said I could be on the list for two sites. Apparently I was top of one of the lists. Eight months later I asked again - they said I was actually sixteenth on that list! They hadn't actually checked the first time. Given that it takes them two to three weeks to respond to an email you'd have thought they could have looked on a list in that time, but hey-ho.

I'm ideally looking for a half plot if anyone knows where someone may be looking to share their work. Or I'd like to help someone out on their plot - just get me outdoors asap, I'm climbing up the walls.

(I am growing tomatoes, peppers, chillies, a few herbs along with some wildflowers and geraniums on my 5 inch deep Juliet balcony - I refuse to give up!)

You know, the one where folk unable to manage their big gardens let a would be plotter share it for a percentage of veggies grown?

A disabled lady down the road from me has a chap in to grow veg. He has a key to the side gate.....she barely sees him, but there's a box of veg on the step most weeks!

Seems like such a perfect arrangement!

Thanks, I was actually on these forums a few years back, but couldn't remember my login or email stuff (oops)

I've sent some messages on Landshare and made my own 'wanted' ad so fingers crossed. I've emailed a community garden offering to volunteer too - obv not veg growing but it'll keep my hands busy.
