  • Allotment Waiting List in Gloucester

    Hi,
    This is my first post.

Is there anyone out there waiting for an allotment in Gloucester? Apparently according to the Task Group tryng to sort them out, there are 94 of us. I don't know how many still are waiting, have left etc. I suggested they check with all on the list but they thought not.

In the mean time; what a fab forum.

    Thanks
    Beth

Hello, FMN - and welcome to the Vine!

94 sounds like a horrific list - but I guess that there are a number of plots across the city, and some people will have their name on more than one list?

It would be worth you going to the site that you want a plot on and having a good look to see if there are any 'uncultivated' plots, and have a chat with the people down there. It won't do any harm to get your face known, and with a bit of prodding you might find that there may be a plot become available sooner rather than later!

Are you managing to grow any of your own stuff this year, even without the allotment? Still time to sow those dwarf french beans in pots at home.....

Good luck with the allotment hunt!

      Hi,

My friend Jackie and I have a feeling we could be on the list a few times as ever so often we phone again. I've joined a lcal allotment gardening association, so go to their meetings, so hopefully something will come of it sooner rather than later. Your Blog is fab by the way, will have a read later, photos great.

This year I've got peas, beans, a pumpkin, courgettes, sweetcorn, leeks, cabbage and brocolli all squeezed in a small patch in back garden and some toms, peppers, aubergines and a melon in my unheated greenhouse. Oh and strawberries, nothing too impressive yet, due to weather I expect. Lots of herbs and mixed lettuce and spinache, loads of sweetpeas, sunflowers, some nastutuims and mixed flowers too. Foxglves and bees. I squeeze what I can around, kids toys, a menagerie, a bit of lawn etc. Only a end terrace garden but when you NEED to grow stuff, you find a way.

      Thanks for the welcome.

        Hello There.
It's been a long time since I last checked in!! Busy Busy.
Regarding plots in Gloucester, I don't know if it is any use but I think there are a few plots left in Gorsley depending which side of Gloucester you live and work it may be a concideration. They have finally reopenned them and I am busy weeding weeding!
