  • Got to the plot for an hour for the first time in a week or so (been poorly sick), managed to measure up the greenhouse for new glass (to replace the stuff broken in the gales), removed the plastic covering the bed thats dug ready for onions and planted another 150 onion sets (Red Barron) and some more Garlic (San Marco), which was sprouting nicely!

Plot is looking ok, soil has dried out nicely, so we are hoping to resume double digging at the weekend, then once thats finished we can get started on the second plot!
    Blessings

            • Suzanne, if that is how much you do when you are feeling ill, could you visit my plot to convalesce?
              I'll make mugs of tea.
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.

                • I feel very pleased with myself. Noticed on the way home this morning that someone dumped a dozen bricks outside the disused pub on the corner of our street. Previous dumpings have included beds, other furniture, pushchair etc, so it is generally understood that if stuff is left there it is available. Got the wheelbarrow from the lottie and collected them, so now have a base for my cold frame.

Bubblewrap has double-dug the potato patch, and found a layer of sand underneath, which has obviously been put there previously as we are on clay/gravel mostly. Things are looking up.

Will have another go at the greenhouse windows tomorrow.

                      • Seed potatoes finally on sale here. Got my salad (Jersey Royals) and First Early (Orla). Not tried either of these before, but thought I'd give them a go. Couldn't decide on second earlies, so have to go back at the weekend, and the Maincrop are not coming in for a few weeks yet, so they dont start chitting (quite a sensible garden centre!). At LONG last I feel as though I am doing something!

                        • Not quite today but handed my notice in at work on Monday - boss has not spoken to me since then !!! Have had lots of calls and text messages of support from local farmers, and local minister says he will have his congregation say a prayer for my success on Sunday.
Only 48 hours from being self employed . At 5 o'clock on Friday, there will be sunshine over Tain, even if it pissing it down everywhere else
