Scoured the internet to source the best tasting strawberry varieties so may have to pull out the run of the mill Honeoye and Cambridge Favourite as they come towards the bottom end of the scale on taste and possibly cropping .
Dug up my garden lawn on either side of my existing raised bed. On one side towards the end of the garden, the bed could be around 5x3 feet and the other side is around 10x3 feet, that would give 28x3 feet worth bed space with existing bed. However both of these new beds won't be raised as it's too back breaking project for my DH and besides it'll make it easier to reclaim back our garden lawn should we change our mind about the beds in the future (just throw in the grass seeds ).
Had a thankless task of trying to light up a bonfire long enough to burn the garden waste right down. Must be the third attempt at unsuccesful bonfire.
Digging on the other hand was such a thankful task, the lawn heavy with moss literally peeled away neatly with a digger, no sweat. Simply collected all the dug up turfs and chucked them in the compost bin. Couldn't possibly be bothered to separate (or retrieve) the soil from the grass and besides the soil was on the wet side and stuck closely to the grass. No point really. So pleased that I decided to tackle this most important task towards the 2008 GYO project that had been nagging on my mind.
