Today I dismantled my onion drying nets and frames, trimmed all the dead growth from my strawberry plants in preparation for planting out, sowed (a la PW advice thread) 300 cells of Spring Onions (both White Lisbon and Ishikuru) which should hopefully give me an early crop of about 1500 scallions, sorted out some railway sleepers at a nearby farm which I am getting for the princely sum of 2 hours free labour (just need to arrange transport) cleared away the last of the tyres I grew my courgettes in last season, potted up the last of my strawberry runners which have been rooting in water for the last while (alright, last couple of months) dismantled and cleaned my heated propogator ready to move to walled garden greenhouse tomorrow - it holds 12 standard seed trays - probably fill these with quick growing salad crops), tidied up the shed a bit, took Charlie for a wander round the quarry, delivered some tatties to an old lady across the road from my house then went back across to my field, took off the boiler suit and went up to the farm for my supper.
All in all not a bad day - lots of little jobs done that needed doing but that I never quite got around to before.

This evening I have bottled the pea pod wine, and sown spring onions in pots (a la PW) and 10 loo roll inners of Gladstone peas (thank you Sarzwix) and Newick peas.

Just got a new slimline windowsill propagator, so filled the 22 little expanding peat pellets with 8X cuecumber 8X cherry tom, 2 X chilli 'cayenne' 2 X chilli 'Scotch hot' and 2 X chilli 'from out the kitchen cupboard' .
Of my first lot of chillis in the heated propagator, 11 have germinated so far out of the 24. Roughly equally between my two varieties. I've also found a partner to get an allotment with today, so now it's just a case of bending my local parish councils ear! Hurrah

Ran out of time, yesterday, so just put 4 more spuds in and earthed up the ones already in. Then I just admired my tomato seedlings!!

Yesterday I watched my Dad weed the bed that will have the parsnips in and I did my back in hoeing the area that I'll be planting the Jerusalem artichokes. However Mum made up for my pain by making home made mushroom and ale pie for my Sunday dinner (yum yum).

I planted out 36 Super Aquedulce broadie seedlings (they overwintered on my patio); and 3 bags of shallots
the ground is still a bit wet to be honest, but I'm banking on a warmer week this week to dry it out a bit.

Sowed 18 crimson flowered broad beans in modules.

Today I finished laying weed membrane around and between my raised beds ready for gravel. Sorted and cleaned pots and containers and broke up terracotta pots caught in the frost to use for drainage. Sowed two trays of violas.

Today. Pricked out Toms,Peppers,Aubergines.
Sown Tom. seeds from Thailand, and peppers. Sown a mixture of herbs. Sown in rootrainers peas (kelvedon wonder )
Bought 3 fruit bushes from Aldi (99pence)

Today my sister came over and helped me do some pruning, I also took 2 big bags of ivy to the tip curtesey of my neighbour, got another two bags of rubbish to take. Dug up some thing that I have no idea what it is but was taking over the garden, Potted on some beetroot and sowed some pansy and lobejia seeds. I now ache all over.

Sent Mr Herbie off to get the wood for the new raised beds Hopefully he is going to make a start on them tomorrow.

Bottled the Jerusalem Artichoke wine. It doesn't taste of JA's, so that's good!

Actually, it tastes rather good.

Today I sowed a large tray of Spinach Beet, so that I can pick the little leaves off, as and when we want them, for salad..... And afterwards, I did another large tray of Mixed Herby Salad Leaves.
And then, hearing a car draw up, I dusted myself down, and went to the gate to greet a very brave new Grapevine Forum Member, also living in The Royal Forest of Dean, as we'd arranged to meet today for the first time, for A Cuppa Tea and a whistle-stop tour of Holly Cottage Garden. What a fantastically enjoyable day!

My 4 year old has sown 2 tigarella, 2 sweet million and 3 tumbling tom tomato seeds. He chose them himself out of all the varieties I have.

He wants to put them in the oven to keep them warm and put the oven light on for light! (I haven't followed his advice, they have clingfilm on and are on kitchen windowsill.

- sowed 42 sweet peas into paper pots
- potted up 3 hardy geraniums (£5 Wilko)
- picked first bunch of wallflowers (Blood Red)
- took cling film off germinated onions (3 trays) south facing windowsill
- onions on north windowsill are not up (too cold & dark)
