Today the sun was shining so I sorted out my compost bins and re-located them. Checked on my bagged up leaf mulch which is doing very nicely. Potted on my aubergines and some pulsatillas. Still looking for a spot to put my climbing bean planter. Checked on the wormery; worms seem to be getting big and fat despite the cold.

Beautiful sunny day, so got out in the greenhouse and tidied everything up. Max/Min thermometer is still getting down to -2 overnight, but is already getting up into the mid-twenties during the day. Potted up my horseradish in the biggest pot I had. Went to Morrisons and picked up a load more of their flower buckets (8 for 99p). Guess they'll probably have a load more this weekend as it's V-Day. Stopped off at Wickes on the way back and bought 300 litres of compost for £11.74, back was complaining getting the sacks into the boot of the car Then on to Wilkos, picked up some big saucers as I want to use a couple of the flower buckets indoors. After getting home and getting everything out of the car I sat and harvested a whole load of Chilles off the two Apaches (Geronimo & Cochise) that I am overwintering. Geronimo already has 6 new fruit showing. Also started off 3 herb pots, Basil, Oregano and Sage. It's amazing what a difference a bit of sunshine can makeLast edited by HotStuff; 11-02-2009, 05:23 PM.There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

Moved my PVC greenhouse away from the tree that I have been meaning to fell for 2 years, tomorrow is the day, and I am getting excited at the thought of all those lovely shredded woodchips to mulch my fruits with!
All the plants I repotted seem happy, but I seem to be struggling to germinate any peppers this year. First sowing was of self saved seed and precisely no action after 4 weeks. Second sowing with new suttons packet has now been in propagator on windowsill for 2 weeks with nothing so far.... I need my peppers! Any top tips? They are in Genie No2 potting compost above a radiator, kept nice and damp. Why no show?
Oh and planted in a container 3 raspberry canes. Bought mouse trap to kill off my "visitors" prior to the main sowing season, when I am sure they will try to wreak havoc on my baby plants. Oh and got 3 bales of compost in from B&Q as I was there.Last edited by Welsh Wizard; 11-02-2009, 08:05 PM.

Cleared the snow from the tunnel roof - it was almost pitch black in there this morning - and the ice from the inside too.
Weeded the beds with the Spinach, Raddichio and Currant cuttings in them.
Dug up 20kg Jerusalem Artichokes for this weeks boxes - not a lot of fun in this weather.
Cleared more rubbish from the shed.
Went up to the heated greenhouse in the walled garden - checked on chillies, celeriac and celery - gave them a watering.Rat

I made a batch of preserved stem ginger in syrup this morning and have reserved some ginger syrup to go onto some icecream for tea.
In the greenhouse, more leeks were pricked out, the reinforcement hative de niort shallots from Hazel were potted up and I followed my own advice and planted some dwarf french beans in pots.
Via the postman, my Dorset Naga seeds arrived and have now been sown.
Now its back to fitting door knobs to the hall stairs and landingdoors.

Cant do anything outside as the ground is still frozen and it's snowing again. Don't want to sow anything else yet as I don't want them getting leggy!
