this morning sifted some more top soil, sowed some carrots into pots for greenhouse, planted a goosberry, blackcurrant, tayberry and blackberry. Picked up some pallets from builders site to make some fencing to stop the cats and wind getting my little ones.
now sat at work having a rest from all that and watching the near horizontal rain fly pastabove the clouds the sun is shining and the sky is blue. if you look hard enough you can just about see it!

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

I went out early to make a start on moving some of the winter weed cover that's on my flower border. Had to come in when my weed bucket kept blowing over. Now it's raining!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Not a bad day today, if not a bit windy!
After a morning doing an 'Aggie' on the bathroom on my first day of the week off, I was let out on good behavior to attend the allotment in the afternoon.
After feeding chooks and collecting eggs, I decided to spend the afternoon in the warm greenhouse sowing stuff and potting on.
Sowed Jumbo F1 sweet peppers (what a swizz, only six seeds in the packet!), celery Victoria F1, sweet pepper Orange Bell and Purple Jalapeno
Potted on my first sowing of long red onions into a tray.
Managed to procure a large collapsible dog cage off one of the guys at the allotmnts for a tenner! Hope to use this to put my young chicks in and let them play on the grass if the weather is sunny! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Well, the earlier rain was over very quickly and the high winds dried it up so I went out again the plant out my Red Epicure broadies in the back garden. Then I remembered I had to re-dig the bed - got done in October but has got a bit weedy. Did that, planted the beans then thought I'd make a path alongside the chicken run with reclaimed bricks. Then I dug the bit of ground behind it ready to plant out my home-crossed peas. Ran out of time - will have to plant the peas out another day.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

At the estate garden, I dug up and moved several more barrowloads of snowdrops before the atrocious weather forced me into the greenhouse to dig over the beds, clean the pathway etc.
Went out to my own place and wished I hadn't - spent an hour or so i the shed, just watching the polytunnel straining at the leash to fly away - even the shed roof was giving it some yee-hah - watered tunnel, swept shed floor, updated whiteboard with veg orders etc, went home - got call about new walled garden / orchard - see thread "Gained another veg patch".
Tonight is paperwork night after kids are both in bed.Rat

Before the rain came I managed to put net over the seed bed in the hope that keeps the cats off. And I put weed control fabric on a second bed, and cut a piece ready for a third bed. (All for an easy life, me! ) Mum brought me a few each of 4 varieties of seed potatoes but my tattie patch is only 1.5m x 1.5m! (DH and DS1 don't like potato unless it's in chip form .)

Potted up my Petunia and Ageratum seeds into larger spaced trays.
Sowed more Sweet Pea seed and radish as the first lot of radishes are forming nicely.
Spent a lovely afternoon in the greenhouse as it was fairly nippy outdoors.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Today 23rd March I....
posted some pictures in my album to show everybody our current project in our garden. It has been a very busy time for me over the last 10days, trying to clear the garden of all the junk and rubbish... trips to the local dump, digging and building.
We have taken on quite a project but one that I have tried to do for over 2 years, this has been a struggle has I do suffer with a permanent back injury so I did rope my boys in a couple of times but teenagers these days don't take long to get board..!!
But now the garden is looking very different the boys interest has somewhat picked up tempo.
Phew glad to have a few days rest though !!

Planted out my broad beans this morning (well actually plants that my Mum raised from seed). I was going to put my potatoes in but the shed lock is broken and I can't get the chicken manure pellets . Anyway I got cold, so I'll do that tomorrow. How come the sun hides behind the clouds until I go inside...?!
