Trousers and The Piglets went to Wilko nearby without me, and reported back later to having bagged a brilliant bargain for just miniscule pennies per tray.X. Serves me right for having had to water seedlings in the 'not so draughty dutch greenhouse' back at The Funny Farm, before we set out together later on our adventures into the welsh countryside, where we visited a lovely garden centre, and further on up the road a bit, to Chris Evans' pub for a pint.
If it took me as long to write about it as it took us to do all of that, and cram all of that into these few sentences, I'll meet you back here next Wednesday.
Brilliant it was....

Went to lottie early with a plan to finish my chookhouse and run.
Plotholder close by was going to burn some decent fencing as he had no use for it............guess who did.
To cut a long story short, built a seven foot high fence (that was the length of the panels) with an arched doorway in it across the bottom opening of my two allotments. Painted said fence white.
Chookhouse and run weren't touched as I was too knackered!My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Today I cleaned the small greenhouse and moved some of seedlings from the main g'house into it to make more space.
Then, with my entusiastic 3yr old helper, I sowed:
2 Pumpkins incase we need to replace 2 of the 6 seedlings my girls have grown and which are looking a little sick;
3 Mixed winter squash;
5 more mangetout as aforementioned 3yr old drowned the last lot trying to be helpful by giving them a drink and I don't think they're going to recover ;
10 more Sweetcorn - Sundance this time;
Some mixed leaf salad, Lollo Rossa, Webbs Wonderful lettuce, Kohl Rabi and Rocket;
6 Cucumber Marketmore;
8 Runner Beans Scarlet Emperor - happen to be our favourite variety and happen to be free with GYO, so thanks very muchly ; and
8 Climbing French Beans.
Then I supervised my very nearly 6 yr old, sowing her Easter 'homework' which is mixed salad leaves from the NFU. She has to keep a diary of what she has done and what happens.
Yesterday: I sowed some Mangetout seeds around my wigwam, in between the newly planted seedlings; decided to plant 2 Vales Emeralds and 2 King Edwards in one of the beds to see how they did in comparisson to those planted into tubs; Potted on 5 Ailsa Craig tomatoes, 5 Gardeners Delights and 3 Kohl Rabi seedlings.
Tomorrow, I'll be sowing the next rows of carrots, parsnips, spinach, beetroot and spring onions, fixing the netting into place on the raised beds and weeding.
Now I have to do tea (my children and husband seem to think I have a duty to feed and nurture them as well ).

Put toms out for some sun and just brought them back in for the night.
Started soaking morning glory.
Booked flights for 3 weeks in Spain, middle of July, doing a swap with my mum. She gets to look after my animals ,garden and allotment and I get to stay in her villa in the middle of nowhere and walk her dogs through the olive groves and chill out with a glass of rose.You have to loose sight of the shore sometimes to cross new oceans
I would be a perfectionist, but I dont have the time

After spending yesterday filling large skip with detritus from the garage and concrete chunks from around the garden (previous owner is called 'concrete Charlie' by us for the huge quantity of concret slabs, paths and 'lumps' around the garden) today was spent playing in the garden.
I sowed carrots and radish in the SFG bed and morning glories and lettuce in the greenhouse. Potted on some of the tomatoes and peppers and pricked out some strawberries and chillies. Bored beans still hardening off ready to plant out, maybe tomorrow?
Telephone peas sprouting nicely in their toilet rolls.

Today was a garden day, haven't been to the lottie for a fortnight as its just too wet. Planning to go this week and have got two crates ready to take with me. (Alpine strawberries, few extra broad beans, Salad and main crop potatoes, onions).
Saturday was spent sorting seeds in anticipation .............
A few weeks ago we took down our arch with has been overgrown with ivy so been cleaning up this. We have come up with a new garden design which we have started work on. On the left hand side of the garden we have raised beds made from sleepers which sit 2 sleepers high (this was to stop jack russell who is now 3 from getting in the beds and digging them up). So we are now planning to take them down to 1 high and mirror the design on the right hand side.
OH cut back raised bed to fit the barbeque into gap from the arch after digging out dreaded ivy root. Moved excess soil to top up other raised beds. Sorted greenhouse out and had a tidy up. Got really p****d, seem to have the invasion from hell of field mice that keep eating my sweetpeas. Managed to save some, and sow a few more but getting disheartened now as this is the second lot they have had. I have resorted to plastic covers for everything I think they might like.
Had a mass sowing frenzy to bring some sanity.
Sown:
French Marigold x2 half trays
Lettuce - Salad bowl
Asparagus Kale
Dahlia - Black Beauty
Potentilla - Fireball Mixed
Poached Egg Flowers - Well it is Easter!
Night Scented Stock
Rudbeckia - Cherry Brandy
Corn Flower - Blue Ball
Sweet Williams
Save Our Bees Sunflowers
Peas - Hugh's Huge
Peas - Robinson
Grass - Fountain
Grass - Silver
Antirrhinum - Frosty Lavendar Bells
Penstemon - Mixed
Cosmos - Double Click Rose Bonbon
Planted out: Sept grown
Cornflower
Canterbury Bells
Calendula - Green Heart
Delphinuims
Heli-something lost the label!
Dianthus - Baby Doll
Moved fig outside under cover, potted up Dahlia - Blue Boy, & Semi - Cactus, Brussell Sprouts - Fillabasket, Thyme, Hyssop, Orange Scented Thyme.
Came in at 4pm for a soak. Had a good day just need to get on with a few jobs at the lottie now.

It was so unfair?
The Piglets (Pigletwillie and his Gorgeous Wife) came to stay for the weeked. And today, he very kindly gave me loads and loads of Pea/Bean/Pumpkin/Squash/Lettuce & Cucumber Seeds.
I gave him two Yellow Spaceship 'Pattypan Summer Squash' seedlings, a potful of growing garlics, some 'Big Mountain' curly Parsley seeds, some Lemon Basil seeds, the entire find of The Funny Farm back garden Easter Egg Hunt Treasure Trove (minus one Creme Egg for Wellie, which Trousers 'cheated' and told me where it was so that Mrs. P didn't find it?!)
and I can't help but think that I kind of came out of today much richer than he did.
But then again, he's gone home with 'bite-marks' on his hands from where he was lovingly attacked by my cat, and not many people can actually boast about that to their friends, believe me.

Today I planted my first early 'Swift' potatoes that were more than ready to be planted, although half way through I had to take shelter because of a hail shower.
Afterwards though, the sun came out and it felt quite warm so it was a real pleasure to continue weeding and cleaning beds and oops nearly forgot I planted 2 gooseberries that I had raised from cuttings.
Stood for a full five minutes admiring my handiwork before coming home to cook dinner.
