    • Potted on clumps of 5 Sweet Basil seedlings per P60s into small square pots, so I've got well over fifty pots of, which I'm well chuffed with. And given that most of my 'armpit tomato cuttings' have rooted and are growing on nicely, they'll marry superbly well together later in the season.......
I also stood a quiet moment, scratching my head, wondering if it's quite right that my Romanesco's are turning from vibrant lime green to a deep purple, because THAT'S never happened to me before.

I planted another 9 Sweetcorn seedlings in a block (to latch onto the rest of the others) in order to maybe get a 'staggered crop' maturing at differing times this summer.

Other than that, I'm watching, by the minute, my summer Calabrese florets just 'burst' into gorgeousness, and the Bored Beans, what can I say? Just try and stop me going out there!
      Thank you for listening.X

          Tomatoes repotted into final place.
One squash plant (given to me) planted out.
And --- one pumpkin plant planted out (the only one that germinated out of 17 sown from last year's seeds)

          • Yesterday I finally finished daughter's veggie patch. Xander helped me sow carrots and radish, transplanted some lettuce from the overcrowded trough, planted runner beans and sowed peas. Looking good, hope she remembers to water.

                • Wheeled up two loads of manure, one for tomatoes and one for potting on chillies. Put my (big) bhut, black pearl, chocolate hab and several other in nice big tubs. Spotted a HUGE (great dane sized!!!) spider lurking in the corner of the GH but mercifully allowed it to live. Planted out my plug plant chillies into a great big metal tub outside. These will hopefully become large and wonderful like the ones I saw at Kew with the OH last week. Began weeding the garden but found a leveret, so had to stop and carfully re-position the little guy.

                  • During the week (have not had time to do much ... as Miffy says ... tis the season of school reports) potted on tomatoes, gherkins and squash - this last is for my son but won't see him 'til next week, went to the plot last night and picked punnet of strawberries and my first broad beans of the season. Picking a cucumber every other day from g'house! But they are only snack cucumbers. And got bitten/stung by something down the plot as I was furtling in the beans and now have a face the size of Europe! Every year I get bitten by something, I react badly and have to go to doc and it ALWAYS happens over a weekend. Arrrgghhh!

                    • Went to lottie with a plan in mind, only to find that one of my chooks had went broody............... so everything changed. After penning the remaining birds into one end of the run, I set too and constructed an alternative nest box for them. Sealed her of and gave her food and water......we'll just have to se whether she perceveres or not?

Planted out the remainder of my Kilaton clubroot resistant cabbages.Planted out some savoy cabbages. Netted both lots against pigeons.
Built a perspex surround for my pumpkin as it was a freezing wind today! Sideshooted all my toms and tied up those that needed it.
No watering required today as it was cold and damp.

                      • - planted out & mulched 3 rows of celeriac
                        - planted out 120 violas (surprisingly the peat free trays were bigger than the 60% peat ones)
                        - planted out osteo, scabious & salvia
                        - pruned choisya & forsythia
                        - potted up water-rooted chocolate mint, peppermint & lemon mint
                        - potted up 40 self-seeded white foxgloves & 24 verbena bonariensis
                        - dug first spud plant up (it had collapsed due to ants/cutworm, so nothing to lose)
                        - pulled up most Violetta broadies (poor: only 2 pods per plant)
                        - fed outdoor chillies, spuds & peas and indoor toms & chillies with comfrey tea, made more
                        - potted on g/h toms into their final pots (Morrisons). Each in a gravel tray & trained up string
                        - took loads of fuchsia cuttings & some of trailing verbena
                        - poisoned the sycamore that is suckering up in 8 different places in the front garden (pulling it isn't working)
                        - pulled out all the pink poppies in front garden (I hate pink) and replaced with about-to-flower pots of lilies
                        - dug & split the phalaris, replanted half in the front garden (in a pot)
                        - sold some flowers at the front gate (profits go to school's garden club to buy compost)
                        - met with my assistant & surveyed the school's 'wildlife' garden: oh horrors! horsetail everywhere
                        - buried my budgie under the rose bush

                              Today
Planted out celery plants and mulched them , planted out some pak choi and mulched, put some netting up for second lot of mange tout complete with lots of colourful streamers. Emptied mouse traps and reset them. Gave climbing french beans a good soaking and mulched. Gave the tomatoes a drink of comfrey tea and a good talking to. Planted out some winter cabbage, and thinned out kohl rabi. Sowed a row of chanteney carrots as other rows now seem to have germinated.
At home watered and forgot to feed greenhouse toms and aubs (job for tomorrow..)

                              • Yesterday - could not write reports due to insect bite on face (couldn't get my glasses on - nose and face too swollen), so had to do some gardening instead. Damn! Tidied out greenhouse - put Marmande tomato and Sungella into final position, ring culture thing in a grow bag. Planted out a gherkin in the flower bed, potted on other toms, put tumblers into hanging baskets, weeded the flower beds and planted out my bargain Pieris (£1 from Focus last week). Pottered about generally tidying up the patio and organising plants. Had a lovely hour or so, despite my face aching.
