Yesterday because the sun was shining, I made a little cold frame (just stacked bricks and glass shelves from an old fridge) on the patio at home. The leek seeds were growing well so I put them out in the cold frame and now it is covered with snow.Forbidden Fruits make many Jams.

Saw 4 inches of snow on my garden and thought Bu... Oh Dear me.
And made a cup of tea. So much for my plans for my day off.
Time to get into the kitchen and concoct something.Last edited by COMPOST CORNER; 19-02-2010, 10:22 AM.

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

Tea time last night the snow seemed to have melted.
Bed time it was back, and it's still here.
Luckily I brought in a large pot of compost to warm yesterday, so should be able to get started with some sowing today.

Potted up my early toms and chillies into 3" pots. If the ground thaws out enough I'll plant out my red shallots.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Called at Aldi on the way to allotment and bought a Braeburn apple tree to go with my Cox's I had already bought at Inshops for a quid more. Also bought red shallots and five garlic at £1.99 each.
Once I got to the allotment I planted the shallots and garlic in seed trays as it was frosty and a light dusting of snow outdoors.
Made a start on trying to site the old hut I intend using as a chicken coop. Hit a problem straight away as the floor was rotten. Took the measurements and will make a new floor from old pallets I have lying around. Once the sun went down it got really chilly so decided to call it a day.My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Noticed yesterday that the local tesco had fruit trees for sale at about £7 each (seemed a pretty good price to me). Would have bought a few but I think I only really have room for a couple of cordons on my plot.
Sprayed earlies again.
Bought a slimline waterbutt and stand from B&Q. Wanted the kit from Wickes as it was about £6 cheaper but none in stock (bugger......)
Dropped off shed guttering and water butt to lottie. Someone had managed to break the combination lock on the gate (only took someone a week to break it.......).
