Went down the lottie for a bit of an auld dig. Finished the strip I was doing yersterday. Just one strip 3 ft wide, across the plot, to finish.
Pulled 3 leeks to leave at one of the old chaps' back door on the way home.
Talked to my seedlings including the newly appeared, self saved lupins and the annual lupin 'blue bonnet' that I'm growing for a friend's wedding flowers. She wants blue!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Really lovely sunny day. Took hound for a pound on the beach and collected a bag of seaweed for "tea". Bought two more bales of chipped Mescanthus for my paths and duly covered another good percentage of them. Counted my sugarsnaps (13) that are up and enquired of the others as to what was keeping them. Tin-Tin Lettuce in green house are up. No shows for anything else yet, but it has only been 5 days. Re-potted my purple Sage into a big tub and gave it a talking to. Put bag of seaweed into a 25ltr tub of rain water to "brew".When the Devil gives you Cowpats - make Satanic Compost!

I went to the plot at lunchtime after work. Spent two hours digging one of my beds. My plot was new and from scratch so working my way round each bed then covering them over with polythene. Stupidly have saved one of my biggest beds till last. Nearly there though and feel I have achieved a lot in a short space of time. Back tomorrow after work.

Had a good productive hour in the garden / greenhouse this afternoon, moved the redcurrant bush to its new home in last years onion bed. Still have the Blackcurrant and two Gooseberry bushes to move too but it was darned hard work so will do one per day! They were all sharing a bed with the autumn rasps who are taking over and therefore the rasps are now getting the bed all to themselves. Also sowed seeds of Echinacea (double decker), Delphinium (Giant something or other) and Leeks (Shelton & Bandit).Last edited by Newbie; 11-03-2010, 07:10 PM.

Sowed Celeriac and Butternut Squash.
Cancelled my order of Rhubard Crowns from Mr F as they still hadn't arrived despite being promised them in Feb and last week. So bought two crowns from local garden centre (Victoria and Champagne). Hoping to plant them tomorrow.

checked my parsnips that i had put to pre geminate and hey presto 12 of them wer sprouting so moved them to compost filled kitchen rols, very excitd about it all as last year was a failure, so far the new seeds that i bought for this year are the ones tha hve sprouted but also put the remains of last years seed packet on a separate tray to see what happened. Hubby planted some cabbages after work but thats about it for today apart from moving seed trays around and watering a few of them
