    • Planted 12 mixed tomato plants into Morrisons flower buckets. Used a 50/50 mix of MPC and screened garden loam!
Took the last cuttings off my chrysanthemum stools.
The large pots with the chrysanth stools in them will now be planted outdoors to form bushy growth.
Without using any heat or any hormone rooting powder I have managed to get about 50 new chrysanths from last years few plants.
I've also ordered some new stock from Woolmans to be delivered in May. Already looking forward to growing indoor chrysanths after the toms!

      • I was going to put my yellow scallop squash seedlings into bigger pots but I got invited out for dinner.....but not before going around my garden peering at the earth and going WHOOO HOOO every time I saw a little green shoot pushing its way through.
Now I have one broadie, spring onions, red onions, spinach and more spuds popping through.
I'm wondering where my other 20 odd broad beans have got too but at least theres a sign of life in that bed now.
My kids have given up looking for me around the house.....if in doubt where Mum is check the garden for some mad woman, bent double, squinting at the soil going "whooo hooo" and clapping her hands!
Its nice to be important but its more important to be nice

        • Yesterday I sowed 2 types of Sunflower (Pastiche & something else), Wee be Little Squash, and Uchi Kuri, Hooligan, Orbit, Son of Mars, Son of Orbit and possibly another type of Pumpkin - not sure where i'll put them all eventually but i can always dig up the rest of the garden! Also admired all my little seedlings both in the GH & in the veg beds - this time of year is just great!

          • Potted on the 23 of my 36 toms (differing varieties) that have sprouted.
Sowed: Tomberries, Waltham Butternut squash,Salad Festival peppers, Fin de mieux gherkins, Lemon cucumbers, Sugar Baby watermelon and Moon and Stars watermelon, some rude chillies, Invitation swede, Charentaise melon and Collective Farm Canteloupe melon, green cucs and a few of some unknown variety of shrub fruit collected by a friend from Spain.
I know that they're all a bit late but had no choice, hopefully things will go well.

                          • Planted out about 2 dozen leeks. Transplanted as much comfrey as i could into a bed behind chook house that gets a lot of shade and will grow very little else. Should be handy as it's right next to the compost bins also. Did quite a bit of watering, quite a bit of weeding(chooks really enjoyed the greenery) collected eggs, topped up chooks water and picked some rhubarb to make some rhubarb jam with!

                            • Potted on 3 Tumbling Tom Red and 3 Tumbling Tom Yellow, loads more need doing but ran out of pots.

Also potted on my baby aubergines.

Re-potted the mint that I bought from Morrisons.

Potted on one of my alpine strawberry plants - again loads more to be done but shortage of pots prevented me - its going to be a busy weekend potting-on-wise I think!

De-moulded the soil on the leeks and spring onions and tomatoes.

                              • Had to take a couple of days holiday just to try and catchup with the planting. Have had a good day and finished planting out the khol rabi, beetroot, swede and broad beans. Planted out a tray of little gem lettuce. Put up the second bean frame. dug over a bit more of the beds. Deheaded the rhubarb, there is enough for the first pickings this weekend. Watered the carrot seed bed, no sign of the carrots yet but they have only been sown about a week.
