  • What a gorgeous day!

It hit 10C against the house wall so I stuck out my seedlings so they could sunbathe.

We also made 200-300 elder cuttings
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.

        • Emptied the big blowaway and sorted shelving for the baby geraniums when they are potted on; took down a mini blowaway and split it up to a shelf unit in big blowaway and the top 'arch' for a cloche support; weeded bed by fence and around plum tree; stired up compost bins; spread last years growbags over raised bed; sat in sun and drank coffee More like this please.

            • A bit late pruning my inherited Autumn Bliss..........at least I hope they were!

Let's hope they grow back.....there are some green shoots at ground level.

Also potted on 10 Maskotka Tom seedlings which were a bit leggy. I buried them deep and my fingers are crossed.

My parsley on the windowsill has gone very leggy and I am not sure whether to pot on my leek seedlings from small inch square modules......

              Loving my allotment!

                • Newton, my Parsley hasn't chosen to germinate yet, so well done you.X

But I have perfected the art of pruning my Autumn Bliss, because half of the canes I DO prune to ground level, and half of them I DON'T. And that way, you get a summer crop AND an Autumn crop from the same variety.... Simples!

Globe Artichokes, Tommies, Peppers, Aubies, Caulies, Summer Cabbages, Kohl Rabi's, Bored Beans, Garlics, New Spuds, You Name It.... all needing attention now on a daily basis, all tucked up in the conservatory where it's light, and it's spitting distance from my warm kitchen to tend to them, so not having to heat a greenhouse during these colder months to grow them on once they've germinated on The Rayburn and need more room to grow.

I took, I think it was, Snadgers advice, or maybe my very favourite Peter Rabbit's advice many moons ago, of buying cheap plastic put-me-up greenhouses from the likes of Wilko, or whatever, and erecting them in your own conservatory or greenhouse, so that it gives your darling little seedlings just that extra little bit of protection and warmth in betweeny having just germinated, and not quite ready to get abandoned into a big unheated room. Be open to new ideas from peoples that have been doing it longer than me and you have because they have some ruddy good ideas, no?!

Sometime last year, I bought one of those gadget thingies to make your own newspaper pots with, and Trousers told me at the time that I would never use it. How wrong he was children? Whoever invented that thing, deserves better praise than that. It is brilliant.
I'm so sorry....the older I get, I keep reminding myself of Mrs.Doyle in that brilliant Father Ted series. "Aahh, go on Father! Go on, go on, go on!"

And just before I go, this is the icing on my 'Today Cake':
I received a letter back from the lady that previously ran our local village show for the last twenty years saying that she would be delighted to Open The Show for me this year on 2nd July at The Itton Village Hall. How cool is THAT?!

                  And thank you for listening.X

                  • Re-erected the plastic greenhouse and this year made sure it's nice and tight and held in place by lots of spare bricks.

Planted out my early runner beans in the new bag and frame from B&Q. Is it too early, they're doing well, already about 10 inches high.

Drew up a new garden plan as I've realised I've got so many pots and bags I can grow in so I have to find space for them all and work out the best way to sow so I can get a constant supply throughout the summer.

Checked on my chilli and peppers again, twice.

you are like me last year.....dead keen to get things going......I had cucumbers started in January and it was only by luck that two made it through........what satisfaction though.......

                        • We had a little sunshine this afternoon.

I put my tomato seedlings out in it again.

Sowed 7 more tomato seeds as well.

                              • Today, i've trimmed the dead leaves off my strawberry plants as they have started to grow new leaves. I was going to wait but it's such a lovely day and the temperature in the polytunnel was nearly 20c - yay!!

Also bought more compost and a new broom to sweep the path.
