    • Popped up to the lottie for and hour to tackle heap number 1 5 years worth of site bonfire :-(

My friendly old man over the way was there so was having a chat with him I turned around to look at my plot and trouble heap no 2 which I have not started to tackle, apart from putting my fork in it the other week and thinking Nah I'll leave that for another day, has gone!!!

My 2 friendly old men on the site had removed it :-) I love my allotment site I only need to clear bonfire bit now and that's it all dug over.

        • Dragged my daughter up to the lottie for three hours. We raked and manured bed 2. Finished off laying wood chipped path number 1; only another four of those to do
Put in my asparagus bed - 3 crowns. Put in a rhubarb Red Champagne. Put in a Blackcurrant, Ben Nevis I think. Put all remaining broad beans in
          Manure mulched the redcurrant row.
Bath on for a hot soak...

          • Built a raised bed for the artichokes, dug it over and planted the artichoke tubers. I had so many tubers I think the bed might be a bit overcrowded. Still at least they now have their own bed. Also planted out a second row of parsnip seedlings in their loo rolls. First row seems to be doing OK. Got a tray of beetroot I must get out tomorrow.

            • Today I managed to put some manure onto one of the beds, collected some tyres for growing potatoes in and have sown 90 Elefant leeks. I did mean to sow some parsnips and put the tyres in the right place but have been up since 4am lambing and have just run out...

Tomorrow I am hoping to get the tyres in place and some more manuring done and start some sweetpeas off. I am sowing things biodynamicly so parsnips will have to wait for another root sowing day now

                • Going to leave work early so I can get to the plot in daylight! Got to sort out the contents of the shed as, now i'm sharing the plot, turns out i'm sharing the shed! Might spread some chicken poo pellets around the beds while i'm there - depends on how much time i have before it gets dark!

                      • Went and brought some more MPC. didn't think i would need any more but now see how much you can go through. Also brought a sieve to de-stone the carrot bed as it was covered with them. Not got them all out but its a start and raking the soil back over seemed a lot easier.

                            • Removed the collars from around my garlic and gave the soil in between a tickle with the hoe and then dressed the bed with some blood, fish n bone, will give a dressing of calcified seaweed tomorrow.
It was dark. And cold. And very, very empty.

And in the middle of all of the dark, cold, emptiness lay something darker, and colder, but very, very full.
