Yesterday I emptied the greenhouse, scrubbed & pressure washed it inside & put everything back in. OH finished pressure washing the patio. Today i have pressure washed the outside of the greenhouse & am just having a cuppa before embarking on washing the plant pots & seed trays. If i've any energy left then i'll return all the planted up pots etc back to their homes on the now sparking clean patio.
... (edit) ok my energy levels didn't stretch to washing the pots & moving plants back onto patio, but i did go & do the weekly shop instead
Emptied greenhouse and took everything outside for some fresh air
washed inside greenhouse & staging
planted 4 potato sacks with 2nd earlies Maris Peer and 8 1st earlies Pentland javlin direct in ground - hoping these are ready before my french beans go in
planted 4 strawberry plants in a B&Q pop up planter
Divised a rollup shade for greenhouse using a cane some pipe insulator and some fleece - see if it works
tomorrow i will clean outside greenhouse glass and buy some more compost
Perfect pottering day
Moved last years strawberry grow-bags out of the greenhouse and back onto the patio.
Swept most of the greenhouse floor - rescuing some worms in the process.
Sowed chitted parsnip seeds as well as spinach and leaf salad into a raised bed.
Put mixed broad beans and beetroot seeds to soak overnight before sowing tomorrow.
Potted on all my tomato seedlings - 35 so far, but many will be donated to friends and family.
Sowed more scotch bonnet and razzamatazz chilli seeds in propagator in airing cupboard.
Eventualy got around to setting some tomato seeds off (San Marzano, Tigerella, Roma and Marmande), also planted Scotch Bonnet chilli seeds. Bought 8 bags of Levington's farmyard manure (@ 1.75 a bag) and delivered them to the plot, taking the opportunity while I was down there to put in another row of my crazy paving patio into place.
It was dark. And cold. And very, very empty.
And in the middle of all of the dark, cold, emptiness lay something darker, and colder, but very, very full.
I'm in complete awe of Living Willow constructy people as well...... I regret the day that Trousers declined to buy me the book I was glued to in WHS in Cribbs Causeway all those years ago on the subject.
Anyway. I spent the entire day, apart from about half an hour sieving fresh bonfire ash around the roots of beautifully mature rambling roses and wisteria, dealing with shed-loads of newly emerging nettles - mostly in amongst autumn raspberry canes.
Had it not been for the fact that my gorgeous cat wouldn't stop following me wherever I went today (AND she caught A Mickey?), I was going to weedkill the entire driveway.
I WILL do that tomorrow, even if I have to lock her in her bedroom?!X
divided up my aloe vera - got 10 more pots of it now! Sorted out the strawbug plant and tidied up the planters for all my juicy seedlings. We're still getting bad frosts here and it was FREEEEZZZing here today so I couldn't get much planted (not to mention we ran out of time)
