  • At the estate garden I work at on a Thursday, after some general estate work, I dug over and replanted strawberry beds in fruit cage which were seriously weed ridden and overcrowded, and then marked out the shape and size of the new veg beds - about doubling in size the area available

          • I didn't know it was possible to grow raspberries on a windowsill? Can you?

            • Cut the lawn with a little "help" from my friend Star. It's really suffered this winter (never was meant to be a bowling green though). Looking much better now.

              • With snow on the ground, I stayed inside and planted 20 tomato seeds - Gardener's Delight. They will spend their lives inside, on the window sill - no self-respecting tomato would survive outside in my garden, this far north !

                • Have checked and had a poke at the seeds and plants already going and started some parsnips to chit. I've also started off some carrot seeds from an old packet in the same way as the parsnips to see if they come to life

                    • hehe, sounds like Fantasia, binley.

I sowed a big tray of back-up tomatoes in the propagator - to back up the ones i sowed in January.

loads of Latah (saved seeds from last year's fruit)
some Galina, Red Cluster Pear and Amish Paste.

Also, collected a bag-full of shells from the beach, crushed them with a hammer and added the resulting chalky stuff to my compost bins.
This should do everything "Rockdust" claims to do. (or at least add a few minerals).

And bought some onion sets as my seeds failed to germinate on the windowsill.

                            • I have caught up on some sowing that I have neglected!

I did cape gooseberries, parsnip in loo rolls (quite a few in each as its old seed), peas, brussel sprouts, flower sprouts, more chillis, more tomatoes, peppers, artichoke, leeks in a bucket ....

Think I need a sit down..
