      • I laid the concrete foundations for our new chicken run - moved the chooks into the greenhouse only to watch them tip over three potato planters full of compost onto my gravel floor, then scratch it all in :/

At least they ate the weeds there were popping up through the gravel!

        • Currysniffa - our two bays are looking sad too, think they've had it - bit of a shame as they were at our wedding!

That's a shame Chris, the chap at the garden centre told us to scratch the plant to see if its still green under its skin and cut it back to where its still green change compost if needed then feed and hope for the best, worth a try!

            • Sowed some more Musselburgh Leeks in rootrainers as a bit of an experiment. Want to see if less disturbance gives more growth. Last years were a bit smaller than usual.

              • Potted on my marigold seedlings, now have 5 strong looking ones in individual pots.

Also potted on coriander into 3 pots.

Checked on all seeds - and have waaaayyy too many! 2 cucumbers are doing well. Toms are all coming up nicely, a few chillies popping through but still waiting on my alpine strawberries...

                  • Pricked out the weaker parsnip seedlings from my loo rolls and put them in pots outside under cloches- so fat it seems to have worked well. I wasn't optimistic but hate to throw anything away that's germinated!

                      • Went to my project house after work as the wind had dislodged a temporary taupalin I had fastened over a flat roof I am constructing. Just a say managed to get it fastened down agin without getting blown off roof.
Got to allotment at 6.30 to find two newly replaced panes of glass had been blown out and another cracked. Could have been worse I suppose!

                            • I went out with OH and fetched back another 7 bags of wood chips from where they've just cut down some trees to make way for another massive housing development, and one of the trees was a lovely little yellow plum tree. Gits. But I got wood chip to cover paths in between the beds so ner ner ner ner ner.

I did the same, they grew fine - a few off shoots/side roots but a quick trim sorted them out. One of my transplanted 'nips grew the largest.

I also today, made myself a potting tray, and staging for my greenhouse (finally).
