        • Dug over a pocket that had spring cabbage in it and dibbled some leeks in for a continuation of use of the space. Finished the pruning on the blackcurrants and noticed that the whitecurrant and redcurrant cuttings I took last year have a nice vertical stem. This is good because I intend to train them as standards or half standards and position them around the plot.
Ate quite a few gooseberries, strawbs, raspberries and blackcurrants straight from the bushes.
Mulched some chrysanths, leeks and mooli with strawy manure from my neighbours chooks. Noticed two or three toms are ready for harvesting.
Did loads of weeding and fed weeds to the chooks.

          • Lots of weeding and re- digging the edges of the beds. Slow going and surprisingly tiring. Thinned a few purple bush bean plants, dug some veggies and decided to leave it another day before watering as the soil felt ok-ish... and it's raining now!

            • Started off with the usual at home stuff, dog walking, dishwasher emptying etc.....then off t'lottie..(little lottie) where I weeded the brassica bed, planted out christmas crumhead cabbage and cavalo nero. Thinned the kohl Rabi and swede. Removed the suttons (leaving the crimsons for seed) and popped in the aforementioned thinnings.....Don't know whether you can transplant swede but its worth a go. Took up the first onions as they were all dying down. Some look a bit iffy .. Dug up some Charlottes for tea and harvested a courgette. Sowed some more florence fennel . Onto big lottie, gave sqhashes and gh stuff some comfrey tea , sowed some carrots , weeded and watered celeriac and celery, weeded asparagus and squidged some asparagus beetles and larvae. Centenary garden , did a spot of watering ......came home , sorted through onions some had to be chopped for the freezer and some are ok .......cleared up after eldest cooked (using just about every pan in the place) watered , made apricot and papaya jam , washed up my own mess, now just chilling on here before I collapse

              • Feel really tired after reading that post Bins! Looked out a decent cucumber plant for one of the lady clerks at work, who is showing an interest in growing veg. You have to encourage and she loves cucumber so it's a start.

                • This morning took my Dad over to Blooms to have a nosey at the half price seed sale..........
This afternoon made about 5lbs of red onion marmalade .......
This evening went to lottie , weeded (some) and watered (where needed).......
Now sat here eating my first ever whoopie (thanks DD ).......

                  • Pulled up lettuces, chard and spinach that have all bolted. Sowed pak choi and spring cabbages in the space.
Took a deep breath and removed brassica cage - most at the allotments have theirs in the open air and they don't seem to have been eaten to death by caterpillars.
Harvested courgettes, purple carrots and early potatoes.
Moved some dwarf french beans that were being smothered by the nearby sweet dumpling squash plant (got my seedlings mixed up, I thought it was a courgette plant).
Finished 10pm, could barely see the soil through the gloom.

                    • Pruned a tree! It was ever so exciting (I had help lol) and I'm so tired and achey now from lopping and sawing and dragging the prunings about, but anyway. It was good.

                      • Planted out my leeks, 73 in the bed plus 12 that were leftover in a recycling box, then I sown some Kohl Rabi for a late harvest.

                        • The area I have perennial flowers has got right out of hand with dead as a doornail lupins, delphiniums past their sell by date and furry salvia that has taken over so it's all coming out. Think I might turn it back over to herbs. It's a devil of a job, but it's got to be done and so I'm doing it!

                          • Planted out some Evening Primrose I've grown from some half priced seed. Not sure if it's a good time, but as I've lost the packet I'll just have to wait and see!

                            • Finished filling in my 2ft deep raised bed - then sowed radish, chard, turnips and more red spring onions.

Also clipped my tom branch up to first truss, and picked the first sunbaby. Yum!
