  • Planted a trayful of Senshyu onion sets.
Shared some home grown sweetcorn with the chooks.
Finally caught the rat that ate my tomatoes I had put away for seed. (he was a biggun as well!)
Munched an apple I'd missed when harvesting.
Noticed that some more spring cabbage are now of a size ready to plant out and will go where the climbing french beans are at the mo, once I strip the plants.

    • Planted out the rest of the Wilkinson's overwintering onions on the lottie. Harvested some kale and a leek for dinner tonight whilst I was there. Set the Senshyu onions in celltrays, also the Wilko garlic.

      • Weeded the beds
Planted out some penstemon plantlets I was given on Sunday
        Planted hyacinth bulbs
        Relocated a feverfew plantlet
Cleared out the tomato plants- what a flop they were this year
Discovered my dwarf curly kale is infested with white fly :-(

        • Harvested the last of my Blue Lake climbing frenchies which have been rubbish this year (wind battered.) Pulled out the canes and dug over the pocket they were in adding some compost. Planted 9 spring cabbage plants in there place in an octagon shape with one in the midddle. Shared some more sweetcorn with the chooks, which entailed me having a munch at the juicy kernels and the chooks getting the remains!

          • Today I bagged up the last of 3 carloads of recycled gravel (thanks to the wonderful "Freegle'), to put down between my raised veggie beds....hopefully this winter I won't be tromping around in the mud quite as much :-)

Same here along with some Crocuses in the bulb bed at the front of the house. I then headed to the back to weed the veg patch and my Onions turned up through the post albeit not the variety I ordered but that didn't deter me as I planted three rows of 25 sets each.

                  • Got OH to move my now empty tomato growbags from the greenhouse onto the veg patch, i then emptied them out onto the remaining bed that needs tending to for overwinter & raked their contents over it into a good thick mulch. Told the dog off for trying to dig her way into the compost bin (again). Swept out the greenhouse & rearranged the remaining plants (mini cherry toms & chillies) and watered everything. Was pooped after that, this being pregnant lark is really getting in the way of my gardening!

                      • Dug compost into one small bed, and hoed around the brassicas. Covered a wide grass path with cardboard to kill the grass so I can dig it up in the spring, and make the beds longer.
Took down the bean canes, after collecting some dried bean seeds to save for next year

                        • Yesterday - cleared a couple of small beds where I had french bean wigwams, collected dried beans for next year's crop and made a new strawberry bed with plants grown from runners that I started 2-3 weeks ago. The weather has been so good (will it last?) that I staked out a few more runners from the old bed with a view to making a second little new strawberry patch. Then my old patch will become the garlic and herb bed. Emptied my builder's bag of carrots (and lots of weeds) and picked a couple of handfuls of Blue Lake frenchies for dinner tonight. Progress was made - you can see where I've been! Don't have time to plant out the over-wintering onions and broadies until next weekend.

                          • Could only spare a couple of hours as I had to get back for the match. Fed chooks, collected eggs, took down tom plants from one side of greenhouse, planted some garlic in modules. Watched a cracking game of footy on Sky!
