Today we were at the plot, for the 4th time this year! Planted 200 onion sets (3 var) to go with the 120 garlic I sowed on Friday (and the 30 broad beans we also planted out), whilst Lee (Mr D) cut back the raspberry 'fedge'. We also planted 2 large thyme and 3 geranium we were given by another plotholder, and finally put the crocus bulbs (freebies from the GC) in too, so a fairly productive (if cold) day!Blessings

Spent an hour weeding my asparagus bed.
Covered said bed with a good layer of rotted down compost.
Dug up the last of my parsnips, cut into battens and froze them.
Weeded and then dug over the bed where the parsnips were.Bob Leponge

After turning my pots of new sweetpea seedlings on the windowsills I give them a couple of brushes with my hand (the theory is that it simulates being out in the wind and encourages them to grow stronger stems).
Today I managed to knock one of them against the rim of a taller pot and neatly snapped off the head. The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.

Put muck on my rhubarb, its a bit late as its already showing, but I'm sure they will love it all the same.
Oh, and sowed a shed load of red and white onion seeds.Last edited by bobleponge; 24-01-2011, 01:10 PM.Bob Leponge

Dug up last of my parsnips- no camera or I would have had a photo of my biggest which weighed in at 2lb 3oz. Cleared away the last remnants of the lilac tree which came down over winter and pruned some of the hedge that did not get done before the snow. Found my grass and nettles are growing and saw a ladybird crawling up the ivy.History teaches us that history teaches us nothing. - Hegel

Today I...
Sowed some salad mixture in a punnet for growing on the windowsill in my very bright office. It's a bit of an experiment. I've been dumping the remains of lettuce seed packets together, along with random other salady things, like nero di tuscana kale, oriental greens, rocket, etc. Hopefully I'll end up with some salad leaves in a few weeks.
Posted some seeds for swapping.
Spent lots of time studying my seed collection to try to decide exactly what varieties to sow this year!
