Potatoes are chitted by keeping them in a light (but not too bright) place till they sprout.
Chatting beans, on the other hand, sound like really good company.
Today I got terribly excited because we were taking the youngest for an interview at a college that has a garden centre, but in the end it was too cold for me to bother walking round it, so we just came home and watched the snow falling. The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.

Dug over some of the new raised bed and got my first gardening blister of the year, a sure sign summer is on its way!
Gave the strawberries a long overdue sort out and some new straw to keep them snug.
Found a runner among the strawberries! I don't think they know what time of year it is they have hardly died back at all and are still massive.
Also found a mystery seed germinating under the straw, I suspect its a cherry from the wild sour cherries at the end of the garden so I have put it in a pot as they make lovely jam.
Sowed some squashes, I know its a little early but I couldn't help myself.
Put cloche on bed to warm soil up for lambs lettuce in march.
And its not gardening related but I also made a tonne of choc chip cookies, yum!
Now can anyone tell me a how I can give up work and have days like this forever?http://seasonalfamilyrhythm.blogspot.co.uk/ - My new blog

Lifted up weed suppressant membrane on the bed for my carrots. Turned over the soil and will hoe off the new shoots as they appear over the next couple of weeks.
Added lengths of string as climbers to my first ridge support for the runner beans.
Modified my first ridge support (oops) to a cage system for the broadbeans.
