Sat in shed at lottie drinking coffee and watching the rain come down the valley I did manage to pick some peas for supper, weed same peas, took the strimmer to some of the weeds then marked out a new bed and began to strip the 'turf'. Managed about 4' x 3' , enough for one of the butternut squash. Came home to dry out.

I bet there's quite a bit in there for them. We all know that a bit of green in our diet is good for us, so why not for chooks too?

      • Supposed to be mackerel fishing today but my Son cried off after I'd loaded the rods into the car.
He said it was too wet............I tried to tell him his skin is waterproof, but he wouldn't have it!
Spent most of the day with my head stuck up a chimney at my other house fitting a new fancy fireplace.
When i was driving home the sun came out so I decided to call in at the allotment..............fatal...........was there for three hours.
Planted out my Blue Lake climbing frenchies, did loads of weeding, pruned some rampant apple growth and got bitten on the hand by a young cockerel who I was trying to save from an older cockerel........theirs gratitude for yer!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Dragged OH down to the plot to explore our first potatoes - lifted a root - 2 golf ball sized spuds and a marble - TOO EARLY ... be patient woman. Will try again in a couple of weeks. And as I post this, it is raining ... hurrah!
Do they have any more bargain salvia as I am not too far from SoT?

You'll be buying a decent trowel next - be careful - hide that wallet!

              • OK, today was a bit of a washout! Sowed some more sweetcorn and patty pan squash. Cleaned up greenhouse floor and watered all toms, peppers and cukes inside. Moved outdoor cukes out of the tomato tents and moved all my outdoor tomatoes from the greenhouse into those same tents. Bed 6 finished now at the allotment. Mr VVG been up there in the wet! I also sowed some night scented stocks and Orlaya Grandiflora for the garden. Moved my okra out too but where to put it. Brassicas are my next planting session on the allotment. Must sow kale and winter cabbage on next available leaf day too.

                • weeding, edging, picking strawbs and more weeding..........when I took over the plot I thought grass paths between beds was a good idea. but with no lawnmower at the lottie using scissors is a pain in the fingers!

Grass paths are going to be history sooner rather than later. Made a start today! Neighbour will be pleased - I hope.

                  Loving my allotment!

                  • Started chitting some more beans and sweetcorn (yesterday), potted about in the garden, made a dibber out of a broken spade handle, sulked because I couldn't plant stuff out due to the rain!

                    • Over the weekend I did this:

Watered courgettes, potted soft fruit, potatos, broad beans, french beans.

Planted out 120 leeks (Musselbrough) from Dobbie (ordered 146 - 120 arrived due to missing plants). Sowed carrots (autumn king improved) between leek rows) and Early Natntes (on seed tape) as well. Lots of watering of leeks.

Picked and ate first taste of strawberries. Repotted the samller tayberry. repotted new blackberry plant what arrived last fortnight into growing place.

Looking forward to tayberries from the larger plant (books say they will be ready in mid July, but these will come next week I think.

                      Mowed lawn.

Picked first crop of broad beans - pefect size! and cut of lettuce.

Watered french beans and cucumbers in hot house - these ready for planting out next week.

                      • Planted 60 brassica plants and made collars for them out of roofing felt. Made twenty litres of elderflower champers, after beheading some elders. I like to call it TNT. Cleaned out chicken coops again with ***** and puffed with DE. Bought new bedding and relined the coops. Sowed kale! Deadheaded all the roses that have rotted or got blasted with the rain.
Now I am going to fall over and go to sleep.

Did you plant her as you promised to? How about the wife too. I think you're cruel - Welsh weather can be awfully wet!
