Just as good as flowers

Is it just me or are these just as pretty as flowers.

I grow both fruit and flowers. I would agree a good fruit crop is as pretty as any patch of flowers. Perhaps one could say a fruit crop such as your apples is particularly pleasing to the mouth whereas flowers are particularly pleasing to the eye.

What’s caused that on the jonagold? I had one apple on my tree with an indent like that,cut it off & all was ok with the rest of the apple,wonder is it birds?

Yep - blue jays or are they just jays? They had a go at every single apple (30-40) when they were still small. I'm leaving them there in the hope Tuffty , Rodney and Percy will eat those and leave the other varieties for me.

These are my eating apples. I wish I knew the variety but I know that’s not gonna happen. I inherited the tree.

Thanks Jimny14. I’ll note next year time of flowering, will take photos of the flowers and this year will photograph one of the apples cut in half. However I can’t help thinking blossom date will be more related to local weather than variety of apple?

I doubt I get to eat any of those They just struck me as being overlooked as aesthetically pleasing and judged solely on taste. It's not something I even considered when selecting varieties - perhaps it should have been

You're likely right to a certain extent but if you put a pic up on here of a fully open blossom on the day its open then there will likely be someone here close ish to you with the same.
