  • Wonderberry

I have grown Wonderberry this year but won't be growing it again.

The upside is that it has fruited and given a good crop.

The downside is that it is insipid and not to my taste.

I just wondered whether anyone else thought this Wonderberry had a wonderful taste?

Never tried it, but I'd deliberately stay away from a plant with a name sounding like something from Marvel.

Like many fruit and veg it's been Wongified - changing it's name to make it sound better than it was so people think it's something new and try it again.

e.g. which would you prefer Aronia or Chokeberry?

I fell for a similar trick with the Honeyberry, waste of space that one.

          berries

I fell for it with the edible fushias. Well my Mum gave me 5 plug plants that she got silly cheap. Yes they were edible but certainly not delicious. The wineberry however was nice and I had a huge crop of 5 berries - hoping for more next year.

Of the more unusual berry fruit what have people tried and would recommend?

At least the stem colour on wineberries is pretty.
