As I have never grown cultivated blackberries before can anyone tell if they can be trained to grow as bushes rather than canes trained on wires or trellis?

Not sure what variety mine is but they are thornless and sour and perfect for jamming.
They free-stand a bit like a fountain.
Not sure if all varieties would do this though."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

This looks interestinghttps://www.gardenfocused.co.uk/frui...-varieties.php
The one that gives really good fruit in flavour and quantity has gone over 10' now in good soil, far from compact also vicious! Can't find nameRiddlesdown (S Croydon)

Blackberries are canes, the term blackberry bush comes from the wild ones that create so many canes they form a mass and are termed "bush".
Have grown Waldo and Loch Ness, both had a different flavour to wild but enjoyable. One of the two were shorter canes and stiffer. Shorter is a length of say 10-12 feet rather then 15-18 feet. Both thornless
