Doyenne du comice

Bought this as a patio pear tree as I don't have enough space to plant. Having read a few articles, I'm beginning to wonder whether I have wasted my money.
I don't mind waiting a couple of years for fruit, but it seems like this pear in particular is quite fussy... it will be on my allotment where there are other pear trees, conference being one (a pollinators partner if they flower at the same time ) and it will be fairly sheltered. Help, please.

You don't say where in the country you are, but if other pears are thriving (rather than just surviving) there that must be grounds for cautious optimism.

Absolutely everyone on the internet found by a search for "doyenne du comice pollinator partner" seems to agree that conference is a good pollinator for d du c.

Yes, I know ! I am based in Manchester. The other pear trees are on my old plot and in the six years I was on it, they fruited every time.
My new plot isn't as big, so this one will have to stay in a pot. I just wondered if anyone else had one as a patio tree and how they had fared.

How long have you had it? A couple of years doesn't strike me as very long.
