    Depends on how desperate they get - when there's other food around, no - but this time of year some tasty young bark is definitely on the menu. Also rabbits will kill newly planted trees sometimes in snowy weather by eating the bark all the way round at ground level, and don't talk to me about deer.

      I had rats at the allotment one winter ate the centres out of my cabbages and swedes. When I went to harvest them they hat tops and roots, but no middles!
