Blueberry cage

I need to build a cage to protect my Blueberry bushes this year - How high should i make it?

Hi GBax - depends on the variety they can vary in height from about 1ft to 6ft I believe.

Do you know what variety/varieties of blueberries you have?
Mine are expected to grow to 5’high - so I would add an extra 6 inches so I can stand straight when I am picking them

Mine was/is 4ft and it's too small for the bushes and a pain in the rear to harvest and prune. If you have a choice make it walk in height !

I have Bluecrop and Duke and am adding Spartan and Chandler.

From a quick google search, I think yours are all highbush varieties which will grow to 5-6’ tall.
How tall are you with your boots on?

Thanks...... I have never seen a mature blueberry bush and was struggling to believe they would make 6ft but sounds like i will have to make the cage that high.

I have a dozen and a half bushes and only one gets to over 4 ft but I'm too long in the tooth now to be bothered with picking berries in a semi permanent stoop hence why I have agreed that a walk in cage is the ideal. The top of my own one is over 7ft above ground level.
