Passed a park this morning not normally on route and they have planted an orchard in a small section. I always have a pair of old secateurs in the car (don't we all
) so I thought Id have a quick nose around, there was a good selection of modern and local heritage trees.
The local 'yuff' had already snapped several of the trees
all above the grafts though, such a shame as it's a really good idea, nice to see fruit trees being planted rather than felled by the local council.
I managed to snaffle a thin scion of Worcester Black pear and Wyken Pippin apple which I was pleased about. Hopefully the rest of the trees will be left alone to grow.
