I have those too on my pear tree on the plot! Is there anything I should do to take care of the tree? I've only ever had an apple tree before, and now I have plum, cherry and pear too! And no idea how to look after them lol

Pears don't require any specific care though they do differ a bit when it comes to picking the fruit. Keep an eye on the fruitlets, and if any look unusually large or lumpy, pick it off and check inside to make sure you don't have pear midge larvae.

get rid of any infected fruit asap by picking them off and binning them - once the midge gets established its a bugger to get rid off - I picked all the immature fruit off my one pear tree last week - there are threads on how other people have tackled the problem which starts when the midges lay eggs just about when the fruit is at the open flower stage.

Thank you - I've only seen uniformly shaped fruit so far but I will have a proper look next time I'm up there

You're very welcome - fingers-crossed all yours will be fine and midge free.
