  • Citrus leaf virus suspected

Hi i have a lemon tree with leaves that are green. But down the centre of a couple of leaves is a tan colouring. I describe it as tan because i dont want to get into the brown leaves thing and watering. It isnt that. All my citrus get the same regime, and only this one has the problem.
I've removed the leaf. I washed it to see if it was a mould. But it doesnt rub off. Its also only on the top of the leaf. I had thought anthro-waddya-call-it virus, but theres nothing on the underside. Except for the main vein underside running mid third to end third of the leaf is brown. the first third and last third of the vein is green.
Clearly i need to isolate the plant just in case.

So what i need is advice on the best bacterial spray i can use, and the best fungal spray. If its a virus then either the plant lives or dies. But in that case should i remove the infected leaves , and hope i caught it? unlikely as that may be.

I've got loads of them in pots, and the thought of this spreading is a nightmare scenario for me.
Oh i checked all the citrus problem guides i could find. None of them show pictures of this.

    Help!!!... please.

I can't really help but couldn't ignore your plea! Only suggestion is, if the lemon is a recent acquisition, try to backtrack what country it originated and see what viruses they have there (on lemon and on whatever the rootstock is). And as you say quarantine it, sterilize tools, etc.

    Good luck!

Thanks DevonUK . Its a wierd one. I went through sunburn, watering, books of citrus diseases couldnt find anything. I think the best approach is just to hit it with the strongest fungicide, and bacterial killer i can find. Isolate it, and sit back and see what happens. Never seen anything that affects the middle of leaves along the rib and not the edges before. Other than that theyre perfectly healthy leaves.
