  • Apple Leaf Issue

Hi Everyone, I have an Apple Tree, Red Windsor. Some of the leaves are curled and a bit brittle at the tips.

Anyone any ideas? Is it a major issue? I would like to correct it if I can.

    Kind Regards.............Rob

It's usually caused either by drought or potassium deficiency.
If the tree is fairly recently planted (within the last two years) then drought it most likely. Give the tree a good soaking every week or so in warm, dry weather like we are having at them moment.
If the tree is older, it's more likely to be potassium deficiency. If it's only a mild case (the odd affected leaf here and there) then to be honest I wouldn't bother doing anything about it. At that level, it's more just cosmetic than anything else. If it's a more severe case, it may be worth giving it a potassium feed. Potassium sulphate is the fastest acting, as it is water soluble. Either fork it lightly into the soil surface and then water in, or dilute in water in a spray bottle and spray directly onto the leaves in the evening.

Mine is a bit like that but it had a lot of aphids a couple of weeks ago, now they've gone the leaves are curled and crispy at the edges - new growth is fine though.

Are the leaves whitish at all? If so could be powdery mildew.
