Well, I'm after a little crab apple and one would look lovely in your little space - fab for jams and jellies.

I have a couple of mirabelles - they are great for kids lunchboxes!

Apparently I could get a fan-trained mirabelle... which makes me wonder if it's worth trying a peach in a pot. *looks shifty*

Well I had a peach and I hated the leaf curl. It was more trouble than the worth of it.

If you have a peach or a nectarine in a pot you can keep them undercover for the first part of the Spring, and then move them outside for the rest of the time to prevent the leaf curl disease problem - it is a bit of extra faff of course.

I did that - it was faff and after about 5 years it was just to heavy to keep moving. Total waste of time.

I agree its a faff - whether its a waste of time or not, rather depends on your own pov on peach trees etc

If you look at things from a monetary standpoint for example, virtually everything I do in the garden is a waste of my time.

I'm not looking at it from a monetary standpoint.
5 years of lugging the thing in and out and the tree looked a bloody mess! I don't mind using my time and effort if I get something out of it....a piece of fruit would have been nice

Yes - I agreed before its a faff - but as people have rightly observed in the past, circumstances alter cases

So for example I have a 3 year old Nectarine in a container, and as I am reasonably fit I don't mind moving it twice a year.

Would you advise me that I am wasting my time in this case ?

                      Leaf curl will win!

I have several peach and nectarine trees that were in a cheapo polytunnel until last winter, when the cover gave up the ghost and had to be removed before the whole thing collapsed.
Two of the peaches were Avalon Pride and they look a lot better than the others with minimal leaf curl - the others are a right mess.
                          I won't buy any more.

I'm going to find out then - as it is my nectarine has no leaf curl this year and 4 fruit on it, so I'm hoping to prove you wrong in this case :-)

They will probably drop off before you get to taste!
