  • Rain Dance

Some of us in the south east dont have lots of rainwater gathering capacity, so i just thought i'd give the heads up to get your gutter attached barrels ready for the deluge. I'm also dragging the paddling pool outside.
I'm desperate for rain water to feed the blue berries, and citrus.
Meh now i've gone to all that effort i'll end up with a teaspoonfull in the barrel.

Its getting to the point where im seriously considering distillation on the stove.

Just be careful what you wish for. A couple of weeks ago I was considering doing a rain dance. But you can have too much of a good thing. I got soaked and muddy AGAIN today.

If you really need water for your blueberry and citrus, just add vinegar to the water you give them. 1-2 tbsp per gallon (depending how hard your water is and how acidic the plant prefers it) is all you need.

We’ve had hailstorms today and some heavy rain after torrential downpours yesterday. On the bright side, I haven’t had to water the new plantings lately.

Weather forecast on countryfile reckons there could be 6cm of rain on monday alone. Multiply that by half a house roof collection area should more than replenish waterbutts ;-)

Rain, rain, rain as hard as you can.
You’ll water all my plants, and my fruiting fan.
It'll rain on the citrus and the blueberries too.
You’ll never grow better plants, not any of you.

                (to the gingerbread song).

I had a little rainfall, but not nearly enough
A pitter patter shower, when watering was tough.
But underneath the surface, the soil was still bone dry
The brassicas were wilting and I began to cry...
(To: I had a little nut tree)

                  Good luck fluffy!

(Actually, we've had more now and I'm back to not watering. Phew.)

If you have an air conditioner you can use the water that drips out of it to irrigate your blueberries. We have air conditioners in every room and I save the condensed water for the blueberries.

Seven water butts, all overflowing, even the pond's overflowing. At least it should swell the taters

Heard some banging coming from next door. Turns out neighbour is building an ark. Deluges of biblical proportions here and it's so, so cold!
