Plums splitting

hi can any one offer any advice or help with what as happened to my plums ? some of them seem to have got bigger and split and some seem to have gone real big and are hollow ! there's some that look ok , could it be all this rain that's caused it ? atb Dal aka Derbydal LOL

Splitting of fruit is often caused by a dry spell which hardens the skin, followed by a lot of rain which then swells the fruit which splits. OTH the hollow fruit tends to suggest some sort of insect damage.

a good solution to this is to place plastic matting over the root watering ring area when it rains stopping it soaking right into the roots. Stash the water in several rain barrels,and water at your own pace.
Even watering is the key.
