Hydro thing.

I am thinking of trying this hydro thing [can not remember its right name] next year for growing strawberries etc. in the greenhouse.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried it and what they thought about it.

The thing is about the thing you were thinking about ,thinking about it,i think if theres a water supply problem your crops die. I thought about it, but on thinking about it , thought i didnt fancy the risk.

It feels very high maintenance to me, hydroponics. I don't think I'd be very good at it either, so I'm out

ive got a dwc hydro set up , its pretty good ,it does use pumps to pump air into the system and a heater to keep the water around 20 degrees , do you have electric or a power source for you green house ? it would help if you could get a link of what system your using to give better advice but overall id think they would work well in a gh ,cheers

Have electric and running water in the greenhouse. Keep hearing how good it is but have not met anyone that has tried this method. If it is so good how come it is not more used.

Hydroponics can be as simple or as complicated as you want.

Dwc is what most people think of when you say hydroponics. Plant roots submerged in nutrient water with an air pump connected to an air stone at the bottom of the container. Every now and then you top up the water and maybe once a month or so replace it completely.

For strawberries id imagine either flood and drain where you periodically flood a container of clay pebbles with nutrient water and then let it drain out or simple hydroponics where you use an inert medium like coco and perlite / rockwool / vermiculite and perlite etc and water when it dries out with nutrient water.

I've had a lot of success with the latter growing peppers and tomatoes in pots, and it's not all that different from normal potted culture.

When I hear the word hydroponics I immediately think of my dead youngest brother and marijuana. Sorry, can't connect it to anything else. Don't think I could even research it without getting upset.
