Grapes seem pretty reliable in Nottingham too. We have a Glory of Boskoop vine that's fruited most years since it got established, and they're looking about ripe right now. I can never be bothered to thin much though so they do tend to be a bit small and acidic...

Thinning will give less bunches but with bigger grapes. If you're going to extract the juice then lots of small bunches is the same as less but larger bunches

The rootstock also has quite a large effect on how many berries each cluster will have and how large they will be, if you are looking at growing Regent then you are in luck as quite a bit of research has been done on this grape. With proper rootstock selection you can avoid having to thin them.
