  • Porthos Cherry bush

    Hello to one and all.
Newbie to forum here. Just wondering if anyone has experience of growing Pathos Cherry bushes. I have two that were given as a present. Planted them in the winter. They don't seem to be doing anything. Have lots of buds on just as it did when I received it. Although these are brown buds not green. Beginning to think I've got dead bushes.

Anyone got any ideas ? Will post some pictures if possible

    Many thanks
    Mark

    Hi Mark and welcome.
If you scratch the bark with your finger nail, if you see green its alive....If brown, try another branch.

If they're all brown, its a thumbs down!

You probably won't be able to post photos until you've made more than 10 posts.

Found one old thread - not sure whether Brack bought them though! https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...hos_98634.html

Almost certainly dead I'm afraid - almost everything is growing away now in my garden. If the roots were very dry when you received them, they were probably dead before you planted them - sometimes you can get a refund from a good supplier.

I bought a porthos Bush cherry this winter for interest and put it in a pot. It has lots of leaves and blossom on now up in sunny dundee. Depends where you are but if there’s no sign of life I am afraid they may have perished. Sorry.

I bought one last year. Round about two weeks before I got a puppy. And around about four weeks before the puppy demolished it. I picked up the three identifiable sticks that were left and planted them and now have three musketeers.

I'm not sure that there is a point to my story, except maybe that these are tough plants.
