Cherry tree help

Hello! Can anyone tell me what’s going on with my cherry tree, it seems to be oozing. Did a bit of googling, please tell me it’s not canker :’(

This happens to cherry trees sometimes. I wouldn't worry too much.
The fact that you had to circle it says it all, really. If it were canker, there'd be big obvious lumps of the stuff stuck to the bark, and the bark near the ooze would be either sunken or cracked.

It's also worth remembering that canker isn't necessarily fatal. The damage needs to girdle the branch or trunk in order to kill what's above it. A vigorous tree can often live with it for years. My big cherry tree has had canker at the top of the trunk for nearly a decade now, and it's still fine.

That’s a relief thanks, I was just worried as the tree has only been with me for 3/4 years so would be disappointing. Google always loves to jump to the worst thing possible lol

the oozy stuff is gumosis it is a secondary condition so won't harm the tree. There isn't much there so just keep an eye on it.
