  • Strawberry plants arrived from Daily Mail

They’re bare roots with the leaves just forming, ready to open.
Do I plant them out (frost?) or pot them up until May?

The fact you are asking shows you care. Stay on the safe side and pot them up

Edit: Sorry that sounded a bit harsh, but hopefully you get what I mean.

I’d also pot them up, it will give them time to adjust before planting out.
      Location....East Midlands.

I'd just plant them out simply because it's what I've always done with no problems. Frost has never bothered my plants, only early flowers. Fleece has stopped that happening.

          Strawberries are frost hardy.
My father always put his strawberry pots outdoors in the winter.
Mine are all outdoors and doing fine with no protection.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I removed mine from the plot - put them in the tunnel - they were trying to grow in the shade of next door’s walnut tree - hoping they will be happier and give us some strawberries.
