  • Apple Keelie

    Hi all.

We have an apple tree at the allotment that is labelled a as a 'Keelie'. I was wondering if anyone knows about this variety? The only information I can find is that a few sites are selling it as patio apple tree. I can not find any mention of it in sites like orangepippin.com, fruitid.com, any of the proper fruit tree nursery sites etc etc.

Is this actually another variety renamed?

    Many thanks

    Dave

A dwarf, green, self-fertile apple ready to eat in September according to the websites I looked at.

      Thanks

Yes, a quick Google comes up with just 2 or 3 sites that mention Keelie. The above is the sum total of information available. I'd like to know about the origin of this Apple (when, where etc). The fact that only 2 places seem to sell/mention them (not the main nurseries etc), they're not mentioned on the NFC site or orange pippin or any other dedicated fruit site etc made me wonder if they are actually a different variety rebranded for a few outlets?

      Thanks

Hard to say really without more to go on - does the label with the name on give an indication of where the tree was bought from ?

Afraid not though a longer serving plot holder thinks that it will have been somewhere like B&M. It just seems to be a variety that's come from no where, no history, and only actually sold by one or two non specialist sites.
