Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to grow Persimmon (Sharon Fruit) in the open in the UK? I have found contradictory info through a Google search, so return to the trusty old grapes for proper advice

My immediate thoughts, I wouldn't have thought so but maybe in Mediterranean (mostly south east Europe) it's possible. But you never know, tropical fruits like Gauva could be grown in UK as they're quite frost hardy, supposedly. The last time I ate Sharon Fruit was from a tree in Nepal, had never liked it and didn't like it then either. When you eat the mushy fruit, it coats your teeth with funny feeling, what is it? Sorry not much help but I think not, that they can grow over here. However keep researching, I may be wrong.
