  • Tree's from Netto

    Hi All,

Went to "Netto" at weekend and found fruit tree's at 3.99 - much bargain I thought.

I purchased plum, dessert apple and cherry.

It says on the packaging do not plant if ground is saturated or frozen - store in a frost free place and plant when ready.

Any advice on when is the best time to plant?

I have an allotment that is not saturated, but concerned on the potential frosts - or shall I leave dormant in my greenhouse (with frost-guard) and do in Spring.

    Any advice gladly welcomed

I would say get them into there final position as quickly as possible! Dig a hole in unfrosted ground, bit of well rotted muck in the bottom, a handful of bone meal mixed in with the planting soil and backfill and heal in!
Most bare rooted fruit trees don't need staking!

I agree. Asap. The general rule with trees is while they're dormant then they wont notice the move.

Hi, these are also available in Lidl for anyone who does not have a Netto.
I managed to pick up a Conference Pear And a Golden Delicious Apple for £3.99 each, far cheaper than my local garden centres.
Worth keeping a look out as i think they do other bargains like seed potatoes and the likes.
